Intro - new owner to an old 2455

Hi

I have recently acquired a 1988 2455 in need of a lot of love - The price I paid reflected the work needing doing, though I think the previous owner might still have got one or two over me ;-) The intent was to keep me busy over the winter, and use some of the "space" COVID has given me.

I have started the work, and intend to show my progress (not sure where to start that thread as it is a work in progress), but will post regular updates

I am not new to boating, but had a number of no-boating years as work, kids and life got in the way - hoping that this will get me back into it. I am based in Wales, in the UK, and are lucky enough to have a hard-standing just round the corner from my house so it is easy to grab an hour here or there to do things on the boat

I have lurked and perused these forums for a while now and have already learnt lots, but thought it is time to nail my proverbial colours to the wall and join

Be sure to add the boat info including propulsion set up in your signature so others know what you have.

There are a lot of experienced people here who can answer many of your questions.................but then you already know that as you have been visiting frequently!

Is the OMC a 5.0, 5.8 or the 460 big block?

We did something similar with a 1990 2755 just over 2 years ago now. Couple months in the shop followed by a couple of shakedown cruises and then a couple more months repairing stuff I should have caught the first time in the shop. That didn't leave much boating time last summer but we got in a late August, early September trip last year and then had good use out of the boat this summer. I've still got a list but its getting shorter. Enjoy the fixing and enjoy the boat. I'm waiting for some parts right now & then ours will be indoors for about a month. I'll watch for your progress reports.
