    Hello from the Pacific Northwest

I am new to this forum but hardly new to boating or boating forums. I have been involved in recreational boating all my life, and during my 34 yeaar career with the Coast Guard spent almost 25 years working in recreational boating safety. I participate in a half a dozen boating forums as well. However, I and my wife are getting on in years and looking for something simpler and easier to operate and maintain than our current boat, a classic 1972 Sea Ray SRV 190 . It has gone through a lot of time in the shop (new to me engine) and now the sterndrive had a casualty (stopped working with a crunch and a roar and burning smell ) Anyway I have a long history of working with the people at US Marine, been to at least three of their Bayliner factories, and administered product recalls. I think they make a good product. So we are looking at various models, so i thought i would post some questions here about various models and get some owners views on them.

    Glad to be here.

    Welcome Aboard

            Welcome to BOC.

What general sized boats are you considering?

Does it need to fit through a standard garage door?

Does it need to be trailerable?

People here have boats of all shapes and sizes.

I bet all your questions can be answered here.

Spending 34 years in the Coast Guard is a big deal...…..Thanks for doing that!

Well hey Ike....I am on Whidbey Island.

Sounds like you ain't green, that's fer sure.

So, inboard, or outboard for you now?

              Fresh or salt, or both?

              Fish, or just pleasure?

              Any kind of cabin?

Welcome aboard Ike. Thanks for all those years of service. I am over is Sequim WA, close by and in process of obtaining a new to me 4788 in the very near future. Afterwards maybe we can hook up and you can assist me in a once over from a USCG point of view. See ya out in the sound!
