    2002 Bayliner Capri 185

Hello everyone! I am the new owner of a 2002 Capri 185 and am still working on getting her ready for the water. Looking forward to it! I do have a couple of questions, I am having trouble finding replacement transom seats. I have contacted Canvas Plus but have not been able to get back in touch with them since my initial call, their voicemail is full and I am unable to leave a message. I originally spoke to Kim and she said she would get back to me but I haven't heard anything. Are there any other companies who may have the patterns for these seats?
Also, I am having an issue with the motor, it is a Mercruiser 3.0L and it will start but keeps stalling out. We have done a full tune up and are getting ready to replace the Ignition Coil, Ignition Module and the Coil Sensor...im hoping that does it but has anyone else had the same or similar issue?

Kim is one of those where you just need to keep calling.

regarding the engine how long does it run before it dies? Have you verified your loosing spark before spending money when it could be a fuel issue?

agree with Mike. Have you replaced the fuel water separator and verified your fuel tank vent is not obstructed and operating as it should?

        Welcome to BOC.

Nauti_Mike has raised a good question regarding a possible fuel issue.

What is the history of the boat?

How long was it stored before you bought it?

When was the last season that it was routinely used?

Did you drive the boat on the water before the purchase?

I will look into the fuel issue. I'm hoping its that simple. It was stored and out of the water when I purchased it, we ran the motor (with water of course) before purchasing and it ran just fine, we were unable to get it in the water to test drive beforehand. It was used last season and apparently had no issues (so says the seller). Motor was replaced in 2010 due to the owner not properly winterizing it. I paid $5k for it so I do have a little wiggle room for repairs. I have read on several forums that this is not an uncommon issue with this motor so I am doing my research.

Is this a TKS carbureted 3.0?
Or is there an electric choke?

yes it is a carbureted engine.

I am certainly not a marine mechanic, but it does seem like a fuel or fuel delivery issue. The impeller regardless should probably be changed. If previous owner had to replace engine to bad winterization, I can only imagine what else was done or not done properly...

If you have a TKS type carburetor look at the TKS solenoid. They often get stuck/sticky and cause issues
