Recently purchased. Is there a way to find out if I can mount additional rails on the side for fish holders? Or hole saw large enough to insert flush mount pole holders. I have original manuals although I cant find out what is underneath (if anything) the side cockpit edges.
On my 2004 285 I have two flush mount holders , one on each corner of the stern. Your boat should be similar in design, but to be sure you could crawl into the engine compartment with your cell phone or camera and take a few pictures up the inside of the hull cavity in that area.

You shouldn't have any problem doing either . I cut a large hole on the starboard side and put in a hatch door. made a very nice storage compartment. Near the top there are wires and your control cables, so just be careful cutting through. You might want to make a storeage compartment here also. I did this on the same boat as you have.
