Sorry man, I just had to do that. Welcome to the BOC. A place where you don't really have to have a Bayliner to belong because most of this stuff applies somehow.

What are you doing to the boat? Is a constantly used boat that just needs some annual maintenance or has it been sitting for a bunch of years. Folks here have all sorts of experience and are happy to share.

I posted the details in general topics however it seems the post will not save to the forum????? Tried it twice.

This is the the goal on the boat.

Had a crack in the hull due to it breaking off the dock last season during a storm and beached on a rocky shore. Wore a hole on the bottom below engine. (this is what started the project and it has grown since).

The boat has been gutted and floors being replaced (stringers are solid) some of foam is wet and it will be removed and replaced. Having the engine rebuilt and Fuel Injection being added.

Looking to fabricate new seat frames (slightly different layout) and would like to use Aluminum. I have all the tools to bend and weld and wanted to know if these will need to be sealed. Looking for any feedback on the this from anyone in the forum.

She will get a fresh re-paint, new Upholstery, updated sound system, new gauges (looking for recommendations) and looking to go with a textured vinyl floor covering as opposed to carpeting.

Would love any thoughts, suggestions, concerns from the group as this is the first time doing a boat (I own a large truck body shop), we work on fire engines and RV so a lot of aluminum and fiberglass work in the past.

Boat history

Its been in the family for many years and lives in Swan Lake, MT. Its in the water from May to Sept every year, tied up to the pier. The whole family makes it out to the Swan each July/August for 7-10 days of family time and the boat gets alot of use. The crack in the hull was just a sign it needed to be restored, was still in very good shape just showing some age. Too many memories to let this girl go and once restored my in-laws should never need another boat.

You have quite a project there. My middle son did a similar rebuild of my moms middle '70's 17' Glastron. Deck off the hull, a total rebuild.

Several members have done project threads documenting the whole project or sections of the whole. Be sure to use marine grade plywood, I like marine grade fir myself, and do no use stainless steel fasteners where they are going to be sealed from the air. In those cases, use silicon-bronze. I also like to soak my structural wood in a 50/50 mix of catilized resin and acetone. I keep bushing it on until it won't absorb any more. Sealing the drive keyhole and drain in the transom will go a long way to extend the life of the transom.

The silicon-bronze screws can be glassed over and will not rust?
