There are several places to get motors, but what drive do you have? That makes a difference because the exhaust manifolds connect differently and water pumps are in different locations. How much motor, as in completeness do you need? Do you need the entire "drop in" package or just a long block with tin? I guessing that boat came with a Volvo, so what's left in the boat? Is there a transom shield and drive or just some wires and a keyhole in the transom.
If you are going from nothing there, and your wallet can stand it, go new. Get it with full closed cooling and remote oil filter. That is going to provide, IMO, the most reliable solution. If you have some parts of the old power package, it's picture time so we can see what's missing and would need to be added to a "bobtail" motor to complete the installation. There are some very good production rebuilders of marine engines out there, and others with super good prices to stay way away from. Others will chime in with sources. The last repower I did was in 2001 and I was able to buy my packages from a contact in my yacht club.
Get out that cel phone and get us some pictures! Times a'wasting. :woohoo:

The right way to do this is about 5 grand, and you call MichiganMotorz and order up a 315 hp small block 5.7.

Anything more than 300 horses, OMC used a King Cobra.
I've seen a very rare earlier production 87 2750 with a VP,
OP will have an OMC set up most likely.
Mercruiser's new 357 4V Alpha is rated @275 HP, 357 4V Bravo @325 HP,
So Merc's engineers are limiting @275 for an Alpha.
Of course, 357 Bravo or 383 w/ Bravo 3 would be ultimate, but that is a $+20,000 package on a 87 boat.
True Vortec 5.7 290~300 HP would do OK.

So the whole package. I say 383 + Bravomake sure your fuel tank is good as well as transom stringers etc. look hard for any structural issues before you spend a dime!
