    voltage drop

calculating voltage drop from the alternator to battery to figure out what size wire to use. If the alternator is a 100amp, i guess thats the number you plug into the calculator, and i think you do the round trip as well for the distance?

so if i have 15' from a 100amp alt, and want 3% or less drop im looking at 4/0 cable. Seems a bit thick, hence my question.

Your answer is 1/0 awg. Not sure what you are doing wrong. Did you use the metric formula by mistake?

Thanks Tiltrider, it was late and seemed off, appreciate the double check.

Used an online calculator, and it already doubles the distance for you, rhat is where i went wrong.
