Most of us will recommend you replace the fuel tank with a new one. Repairs can be made in certain circumstances but these older tanks start to leak because of corrosion and often times a repaired tank will soon leak again somewhere els.

My recommendation is to replace, most tanks corrode from outside in from the bottom, I and others have posted descriptions with pictures.

There are several threads that cover replacing the fuel tank. Typically the engine has to come out and the bulkhead at the back of the tank is removed

Yep, it’s a fair amount of work.

Go to completed projects there are several projects with pictures enplaning the process, a bit of planning is required.

Some decent pics of that area on my rebuild thread although a different model boat the process is the same.

If its similar to the 2859, I believe the tank is under the bed.
Is the tank dented inward, or is that just how the photo looks?

Took the tank out today, glad I did taking it fabricators monday morning for appraisal.
End section has hole each side in the position of where the straps were, underneath needs checking by a proffesional to be sure.
Luckily the engine was out waiting for new one to arrive, would of been bad if it had been put in, then found leaks. The old interior was already out as well.ready for a refit so all in all not too bad to complete in the day.
