Kevin, those shores are most beautiful. I must say they are even more beautiful from the road than on the sea. Once you settle down in Mexico you should take a trip back to the US and travel up CA Highway route 1.

If you plan to upload fuel in Morro Bay you might give thought to ledger boards or horizontal fenders as the fuel dock is vertical pilings only and can be pretty rough on your boat. Also, watch for a swirling eddy on the south side of the fuel dock if the tide is running, can be tricky.

Thanks Jim!
My plan is to refuel in Santa Barbara or somewhere south. I am not a fan of warf type fueling

Kevin, you are blowing through the dino's today. Almost 15kts! Enjoy Santa Barbara.
I am getting after it.
The reason is that there are two open slips for a 50' boat right now, and they are first come first served with no reservations accepted.
Since I was a kid playing around the SB harbor and the warf in the 60's I have dreamed of parking my boat in the harbor.
Today the dream comes true, 50 years later
The 60's were a wonderful time. As a boy I was allowed to walk from my grandma's shop in the El Paseo down to the warf to fish.
I explored all of downtown, and the entire harbor area before I was 10 years old.
Something unheard of today. My granddaughter is now 16 and had none of the freedoms I enjoyed as a child.

Truly a bit sad for our kids today, I too enjoyed freedom like that as a kid! Glad your now officially in SOCAL... Enjoy the stay in SB, its a great place....
I am happy to report that I am safe and sound in Santa Barbara California. I have a nice end tie for up to 28 days, and intend to be here for a full two weeks.
Well over 2500 nautical miles, all by myself. Only one day with really rough weather!

Obviously no issues rounding Pt. Conception! Enjoy SB and family! Whenever you make it further south, you know I’m in Alamitos Bay. If you need anything, logistical support, wheels, tools, etc, give a shout out. 562.587.9939

Thanks Jim! Are there transient slips available??? I will be needing a place to tie up for the night on the way to San Diego in a couple of weeks.

Yes, there are transient slips, usually end ties but they have 30 and 50 amp power. Also, suction hydrants for cleaning the black water tank. Hose Carts are strategically place around the docks that you roll up to your boat to pump out. No need to reposition the boat to a specific pump out dock. I’d suggest calling ahead for a reservation. If you need me to run interference I can talk to the marina office personnel. Also, if you’re a yacht clubber there are several clubs at our marina that can probably provide reciprocity.

Thanks jim, I'll give them a call. Perhaps we can share a beer?
