Lol - he's flying! Zoomed past Campbell River at 14:00, gets to ride tide till Comox (where it reverses direction - floods south at CR, north just around Comox).
Might make Nanaimo if he goes up on plane when tide runs out - Go Kevin Go!

previous = built own Roberts V495, circumnavigated

+ few more before that..
I made arrangements with North Harbor Diesel to keep the boat and do a couple small jobs while I drive my pickup[ to Mexico.
Because of this I am getting after it to make sure I make my haulout at 0800 Wednesday.
Bought fuel at campbell River. Am right now facing yet another 30 kt head wind so I am heading for the western shore since the wind has a strong westerly component.
Up on plane and am planning on spending the night in Nanaimo, then running the inside of the Gulf Islands and then over to Anacortes tomorrow.
I'll be in Cap Sante tomorrow night slip E58 if anybody is in the neighborhood.

Dodds is over hyped for anybody that has a boat that can exceed about 10kn. It is only a marginal consideration in trip planning. For a guy that just single handed across the Gulf of Alaska, Queen Charlottes, and the Johnstone Straight in just a few days I think the Logs in the area are more of a consideration.
I actually prefer to go when it is running since it keeps most others away. The clusterf… of nervous Nelly's and slow boats at and around slack is a PITA.
Agree. Same with Deception. But it was also a feeble attempt at persuasion for a guy who pushed thru all that - now he can get up, stroll the docks with a cup of joe, smell the roses and not have to push to get moving.
Also agree about running it when its flowing - keeps the WAFA's away.

We just left Cap Sante this morning. We're now in
La Conner and tomorrow will be in Oak Harbor.
We'll wave as you go by. You'll probably be on
the outside of Fidalgo and Whidby Islands.

I'm pulling in to Nanaimo in just a few minutes. Going to have a celebratory beer.
Now I am poised to make a leisurely run to Anacortes tomorrow.
Now life gets to slow down. Tomorrow afternoon I'll get as ride to Tacoma, get my truck and start a nice easy drive to the Mexican Border. I have reservations for 5 nights at Hotel Coral in Ensenada as a treat, and then I'll make the drive down the Baja.

I got up early and went through Dodd Narrows at 0553. This gave me a decent 5 knot push, and right now I am making way at hull speed for Anacortes.
Enviroment Canada has issued a gale warning for the southern Strait of Georgia for later today and I want to be happy in Anacortes before that.
I have had plenty of challenging seas this trip and want to end it on a happy note. My expected arrival at Anacortes id 1:30 pm.
Then I get to relax.

yet another good plan Kevin, thank you for sharing your trip with us all and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say we can't wait to see the next legs down the coast. Your early arrival should make for a little R&R in Anacortes....
Nice work Kevin, thank you for sharing it with us! Glad you made it safe and sound. Time to relax now and drive . Are you still bringing the boat to Tacoma after NHD or will you head down the coast after NHD?
I think the most beautiful trawler in the world is likely still tied up there on C or D dock. Delfin is a Romsdal restoration owned by a guy who lives in Anacortes. He told me she was a steel canoe when he bought her but you would never know it now. there's 2 good boats on that dock - Delfin's next door neighbour is Bolero, a 50 Defever. Her current owners were previous owners of our 43 Defever. D38 sticks in my head but it could be C38. When I started typing I was sure it was D dock but now I'm not so sure - once you spot Delfin you'll know.
