I see a market there. Old boats that cost more to fix then they are worth, could be towed to new homes on land instead of the dump.
Could be a niche market for small campgrounds where you stay in a boat instead of a tent.
Or airbnb in your backyard if you live where there are no regulations.
In Bisbee Arizona there is an RV park full of classic teardrop trailers that you can rent. I think something similar could be done with boats.

      Is it a 3488, or a 3258?

Hard to tell! These Avanti models (3488 and 3258) have almost identical floor plans and look very similar. It's a great layout!

I just wish they had diesels! Pretty much all the ones I've found are the 7.4s.

I think you are right, most of these are inboard/outboard Mercs. Does anyone know if they offered diesel in the Avanti models (3258/3488)?

3258s have outdrives, not sure about diesel options. 5.7 gas was standard and 7.4 gas was an option, rare to find.

Looks like the late gen models in the 34's at least got diesels. But all the other ones I looked at didnt have them Sad, it would be my next boat.

You could by my 2000 3388 for two-thirds of that price...

The premium price on the pre-Meridian model 3488s never made sense to me. It is a sweet looking boat with a modern interior, but you could get a 4550/4588 for that price!
