Definitely not going to spend a bunch of time making it easy for them to extract cash from assets.
Me too! If I have anything left over I planned poorly, and worked too long.

Good deal....your at boxing things up stage now. Enjoy it and good to hear a well earned life of saturdays are starting for you.

Curious if not too personal....what percentage of current income gross do yall feel is enough. I know that's a big debate as the gurus say 75 to 80 percent, but sure seems I would spend more in retirement. Never traveled and no desire to see the world...but do want to see the USA.

I plan on being debt free at retire date... but reality is I can't drive current vehicle forever.

          Brad,

We all have different circumstances and in my case I will be on my wife’s employer provided health insurance plan. I’ll still have a smallish payment on my home and a home improvement loan for a while. Even so, about 60% will do me just fine but the basis of my gross is pretty high. I would need more if I had to pay the health insurance part.

Jim, every day I go to work I get annoyed. Nothing to do...nobody listens, but I’ll cash the checks if that’s what they want me to do!

It’s official now. I join the ranks of the retired. The last few weeks and especially the last few days have been very stressful as the transition to my successor occurred. I really need to relax. A road trip to see my daughter and Major League Baseball tomorrow!

                        Congrats!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that the last few days were stressful. By contrast my transition was super easy. I was fortunate that my VP transferred my successor to my team a number of weeks before I retired, plus she was a super sharp gal. I had plenty of time to work with her and make sure that she was up to speed. She took over the team a couple of weeks before I retired, and I acted as a consultant for the remaining time.
