    Micro-aggression in perspective

if someone experiences 5 micro-aggressions per hour every hour for 23 years they will have experienced a little over one aggression. Just saying.

      Love it!!!

We have a couple of millenials that think about micro agressions.

Wait till they get some quality time with the boss and learn what a real aggression is.

That link makes a common statistical error - only looking at one end of the spectrum. It cherry picks a bunch of positive areas where men dominate (tenured positions, elected officials, CEOs, etc). Then incorrectly concludes that this means that men are unfairly advantaged.

Men also account for 77% of murder victims, 79% of suicides, 80% of the homeless, 91% of inmates, and 93% of workplace fatalities.

Once you see the whole picture instead of just one end of the spectrum, you realize that it isn't necessarily that men have an advantage over women. It's that the bell curve distribution for men is broader than for women. So men dominate both extremes - positive and negative. While women tend to cluster closer to the average.

Consequently, improving the representation of women in the positive areas, without simultaneously reducing the representation of men in these negative areas, can only be accomplished by unfairly favoring women by a huge degree over men. It would mean we're shifting the center of the bell curve for women (the average) far above the cenber of the bell curve for men. When what you want to be doing (if it's even possible) is to expand the bell curve for women / shrink the bell curve for men.

Micro-aggressions.... Boo Hoo! Buck up and do your job! Quit worrying about your closest safe space unless you’re a fireman! Stop crying over your “feelings” and go make something positive happen! I could go on but everyone already knows what side of the fence I sit on, the “git er done” side!

Well said. I thought this micro-aggression stuff was only in colleges used by the whiners who can't handle stress and criticism. Wow, what a coddled life they must have had.
