Hey team -

Sad news from Facebook today. Alaskamutt and I have heard that Jim Smith (jim.smithjr here on BOC) from Saskatchewan has passed away.

We don't have any further information at this point. If we hear I will pass it along.

I had the honor of meeting Jim about 10 years ago when he passed through Chicago. Charming guy, we had a great evening with him and his wife Pam.

This one hurts. HIs family will be my thoughts.

Jim and Pat drove through Alaska a few years and I had the privilege of having dinner and drinks with them a few times. Kind gentle souls both of them.

I met Jim and Pam several years ago in Florida. We were having a small BOC gathering and Jim and Pam were in the Miami area. They rented a car and drove a couple of hundred miles to join us.

Nice couple. This is truly a shock.

We were friends on Facebook. I will miss his posts and pictures.

If memory serves, he had a absolutely beautiful mid 1960s Continental Convertible 4 door. Suicide doors, the lot.

Darn. This is very sad news. Met him back in 2009 as they were passing through doing some work with Cosmopolitan International. Found one photo memorializing the occasion buried deep in the archives. Condolences to Pam and the rest of his family. He will be missed.

We never were able to meet Jim and Pam, but we discussed it many times. The last time we tried, they were going to be in Arizona. Yep, we were in Canada... RIP Jim, our condolences to Pam and the family.

Met both of them in Victoria, BC. Broke bread and ice cream with them... He was a kind soul..

This hit me hard this morning. Talked to Jim late last week. He phoned to say he was having health issues and would be delaying their trip out here for a bit. They were to winter at the RV park at Pedder Bay Marina again this year. We had talked earlier this month and had arranged for them to forward their mail to our home for the winter. Easy as I live three minutes from the marina. R.I.P. Friend.
