In the middle of bring a 1998 21 ft trophy up to my standards. Found two wires at battery switch (amoung others) one had a 3 amp inline fuse blown red wire with silver or white lines around the wire, the second one is a 10 amp brown wire with a red stripe running in the middle of wire not blown. Any ideas what they are?
More than likely they powered electronics, i.e., a fish find/sonar. Most manufacturers recommend that type of setup, plus 3 amps are also traditionally the size for electronics. Does the Trophy have any electronics???
The brown w/ red stripe may power an add-on bigle pump switch since brown can be found associated with bigle pumps and float switches.
During your clean-up process, you'll no doubt discover what these circuits have been used for.
Suggestion:
Since you're bringing the boat up to your standards, why not re-do as much of this old wiring as possible?
Use the rear #1 and #2 MBSS terminals for your O/B Charger leads.
Use the rear #2 terminal (your house bank) to power your bilge pump float switch!
Use the "common" MBSS terminal to power a remotely located breaker panel for Nav and Radio gear.
All fused, of course.
