Guest repliedIt can be done with a good canvas person. I had my 1987 28' Contessa done and my 1988 32' Avanti. I can send you pictures of both if your interested...

Here is what I had.
Basically the front part snapped to the front edge of the arch, like on the 305.
Then, I had an SS frame that cantilevered out from the back of the arch, with 2 supports that also attached to the arch. There were no posts.
Have a look, and if you have any Q's let me know.

Awning rail is what is generally used these days to attach a top to the arch. Google it. Some use the rail and snaps. It comes in plastic and or metal. A zipper is sewed to the male half and the female half is screwed/sealed to the arch.

His first "harmony" looked very nice. I'm sure he has some pics in his album

I am sure a good canvas guy can figure out a good alternative.. My guy even does his own tubing.

Guest repliedAll of the 80's style boats with an arch like that, I have seen do not have the camper attached to the arch. Rather it goes under the arch as your bimini looks like it already is. It would just fit inside the arch all together, from what I ahve seen.

Guest repliedThanks for the picture Jim.
I was hoping someone with the same arch (year) as mine would post. I also was concerned about water intrusion under the canvas at the snaps, Both fore and aft.
My arch has a square piece(aft) right under the radar. How is the made not to leak.

On the 305 there is a row of snaps on top of the arch along the forward and aft edges. The go all the way up over and down one side to the other.
The 305 arch also has a slight raised lip on the top edges, front and back to reduce water infiltration. Also the canvas is made with a rubber sealing surface to reduce leakage.

I going to replace my old boat top. I want to go with a camper style, I am trying to figure out how to attach the top to both the (top) front of the radar arch and the back. Do any of you have a picture that shows how the top is attached to the radar arch?
