Pre Cruise checklist and longer term checklists…

Im amazed how long it takes me to learn something’s and the mistakes…

I probably could have avoided two major engine failures with a good pre cruise run down. So now I don’t start the boat without checking:

belts
oil
E/G in heat exchanger and tank
bilge Pumps and float switches

whats your routine and what else should I add?

For those who don't mind making notes for themselves, attach a note to your ignition key, and wire them both to the helm wheel.
Same with drain plugs, seawater pump impellers, H/E pencil anodes, or anything that has been removed and must go back in, etc.
Start your list and keep a pen near by...... trust me, it will grow!

Now...... regarding the rest of that list:
Good Tequila, mixer and lots of ice.

Rick, I welded my first engine cause I left the raw water intake closed. Notes are a great point - should have hook my keys on the seacock.

If there are new people on board, a quick briefing on the locations of life vests, first aid kit and distress signals.

Also, before leaving the dock, I power up all of the electronics needed and test tension in the hydraulic steering system.
