2556 random projects 3/10 Bow thruster instalation

I know one can manage without one, but for me this installation is mainly for safety but also for convenience. I do berth most of the time on holiday trips to rather tricky places, uninhabited islands using anchor and bow to a natural shore without any berth or marinas. So for safe " landing" its a great help to be able to keep the bow at place. And don't think my Alpha one can hold out to much prop walk rehearsals Click image for larger version Name:	WP_20170820_14_48_54_Pro.jpg Views:	0 Size:	69.9 KB ID:	501131

ID:	501141 more pics. Used a shallow drill so had to cut a lot during drilling. To keep the drill in place during operations made a support half way. The shape of the hole looks very strange when finally drilled.

It was some work also inside the hull to make space, to be able to laminate tunnel also from the inside. I had water trapped in the bow "compartment" so would have had to open and dry it anyway.

Here a picture when cutting the tunnel, pretty heavy laminate scheme in the bow area! And wood in the spray rail but that was dry.

Thanks, yes at times running a chop gun it will pile up, then it is up to the man with the roller to pack it in tight with out air bubbles.

ID:	557647 . I mad a putty from epoxy resin, plenty of chopped strand, fumed silica and cotton flock. To get that smooth and even under the tunnel that was a messy job! Finalized with some cloth and epoxy.

Will paint the whole are with grey bilge paint including the storage space beneath the bed. When that's done will attache the thruster, that should not be hard....i hope.

To be honest, don't know yet is it located perfectly or not! But there are certain measurement mentioned in the installation manual( minimum length of tunnel, minimum distance to keel....) , and in addition to that searched the web for pictures on similar installations and further info.
