Just replaced my exhaust bellows and since I do not have the merc tool I did this. Connected bellows to the transom first. Took a large heavy duty tie wrap and put it around the bellows two ribs in on the drive end. Took two more heavy duty tie wraps and looped them under the one around the bellows and tightened down the one around the bellows. This left two loops one on each side of the bellows to pull it onto the drive. Had the admiral (with gloves on) pull one side while I took the other loop and free hand to guide a giggle it into place. Even with the drive trimmed down as far as I could go and still get my hand in there it was a bear of a job but finally worked. After clamping in place I carefully cut the tie wrap around the bellows.
A tie wrap also works great around the water pump impellor to hold the vanes in the proper curve while pushing into the housing and than slides right off. Any suggestions for the drive shaft bellows when that time comes ????
