    Hour Meter

This Past weekend I purchased a new 2018 Tracker Pro Guide V 16 WT with a 75 hp Mercury. Prior to delivery I request a engine hr meter be installed. They installed one under the cowling in a open area, which is great. I can check hrs when I check the oil.

Look's like a good spot. What this hour meter based on? Engine electrical power on or actual engine running time?

Does this Merc have the SmartCraft digital technology?

Also, do you have the electronic throttle control or mechanical cable?

If you have SmartCraft digital technology there are all kinds of goodies you could look into.

    For example:

It reads engine run time. The Motor is also capable of using the lasted digital components, however my bank account only goes so far...HA!

Those little units are made by many. Work rather well and activate by a sense wire you wrap around a spark plug wire. Great for almost any application including a Honda 2000 or a lawn mower.

Bear in mind these units are powered by their own internal battery. When it goes dead the accumulated hours resets to zero when the new battery is installed. On some the battery is not replaceable - just a word to the wise.
