    1989 - Avanti 2955 chain locker-gctid349450

Has anyone added a winch/windlass and feed thru for chain on a 2955 or equivalent Bayliner?

Does anyone have a 2955 or equivalent boat with a windlass installed?

I am looking to install a windlass or at least a hatch to the chain locker, but to me the locker

doesn't seem big enough for 30ft of chain and 300ft of rope.

If anyone has a 2955 and they are using their chain locker, would you mind sending me a picture?

I've only had my Bayliner 2 months but she is loved and getting a lot of attention.

    Thanks in advance,

    Leon

I installed a windlass on my 89' 2655. The chain locker is a little small, but it has worked well over the years.

25 ft of chain/200ft of line.

Thank you so much. That is very valuable info.

I also like what you did with the spotlight.

I have the same pulpit and likely a slightly smaller locker. I run 30 feet of chain and 200 feet of rope.

Do you have any drainage in the chain locker?

Mine appears to be a separate compartment from the forward bilge.

Thanks to both of you for the photo's. Very informative.

Mine has an original factory drain hole going through the hull on the starboard side.

Mine has the factory drain hole right below the bow ring. A clam shell is mounted over the hole.

I installed a windlass on my 32 Avanti years ago when I first bought it... It was the best thing I ever did to the boat until last year when it stopped retriving the rode in.... Now I'm shopping for a new windlass that actually will last more than 7 years... Buy a good brandname windlass not a powerwinch....

You will be suprised how much rode you can get into a locker especially chain as it just piles up, where rope will coil itself in the locker and does take up more space....
