Bravo 1 Gen II Transom Plate and Gimbal Housing

Have been looking at a Bravo 3 drive assy for a 5.7L 300 HP. Will it require a different Transom Plate, Gimbal housing, and coupling? current drive is a Bravo 1 Gen II. Looking at Housing and Gimbals online they all say will fit Bravo I, II and III. I would have thought the bolt pattern would be different at the Gimbal. Thanks !

Bravo 1, 2, 3, they all share the same transom assembly.
what kind of a boat we talking here 2452?
are you sure your current drive is a Bravo 1? They would've never put a Bravo1 on a cruiser unless it was modified...

Thanks Ruffryder. And your right, my mistake, had a case of Bravo Brain. Alpha 1 gen II is current setup.

In that case, everything starting with engine coupler and everything back will need to be replaced / modified...
transom cut opening will be the same &
don't get scared, once you start digging into it, it's not that difficult.
if you decide to hire a shop, it will be very expensive.

You will also need an engine mounted raw water pump as the Bravo does not have an impeller built into the drive itself. A few options for that.
Bravo swings a huge prop or props compared to the Alpha so a different final drive ratio is likely needed.

Yup either an OEM belt driven pump or Johnson crank mounted pump.
you might be able to re-use your inner transom shield.

If at all possible, and if you have the space in front of the harmonic balancer pulley, go with the Johnson crankshaft seawater pump.
These are much better than any belt driven seawater pump.

I think you are mistaken as I looked at a 2452 a few years ago that had a 5.7 with a Bravo drive. Do not know if it was a B1 or B2 but it had a single prop and I know for sure that it was a Bravo,as it suprised me also.
I do not think it had been modified as it was being sold by the original owner. He never said anything about it being modified.

Joon was referring to the “old school” Bravo 1 potentially having been installed. It would have been a B2 (one prop) or B3 (two props)

do you have any hints as to where to get a crank driven pump that will run off a serpentine belt merc. pully?
I have been looking everybody sells the pump.Nobody can tell me how to bolt it up to a 2003 6.2

It doesn't run off a serpentine belt,
it mounts to the harmonic balancer pulley.

Exactly but I can't find one to bolt up and center on the pully?

Well that changes things . Found a good used 1:20 bravo III drive for 2400. But plate and gimbal new are probably 3000k plus pump and coupling so just a drive on old modified engine is 6k. And that a used drive. Maybe it's not worth it. Might be better to spend the cash on a new MPI with alpha drive. Oh well.
