I recently replaced my transom bracket shift cable because I was having difficulty shifting into reverse. When trying to follow the Hastings guide for doing this, found here:
It says that the adjustments are based on the "new" shift lever, seen in picture 19 here, and not the "old" shift lever seen in picture 18:
Well, of course, I have the old shift lever seen in Picture 18, not the one in 19. Am I screwed and have to buy a new shift lever? Does anyone have the adjustment distances for the old lever by chance? When I put it in the vertical position, it is still about 6 1/2 inches from the trunnion on the cable, so it seems like it would be ok.
I've put enough time and money into this boat, I can't see spending another $100+ on a new shift lever. This boat shifted for the past several years fine with prior owner, so there must be an adjustment amount of some sort in there, no?
