Does anyone know what the factory prop for a 2000 Cierra 2455 is. It's a Mercruiser 5.0 liter alpha 1. The boat planes pretty well then tops out at 20 mph. I read some reviews of the boat from back in 2000 and they say the boat should top out at around 38 mph.

What is you WOT (Wide Open Throttle) RPM with a current prop, also do you know the current prop diameter and pitch. I believe standard prop for boat of that class was 15x17 from factory.

Is the speed read on the boat's speedo or on a GPS? The boat speedos are notoriously awful.
Is the hull perfectly clean or is there algae or other crap on it?

BTW, I used to own the same boat, and I can tell you that it definitely does not plane well at 20. It's struggling and in a bow-high attitude. So I suspect your speedo is wrong.

OK just got off the lake. 5000 rpm 20 mph. According to speedo, GPS and fish finder transducer. Do we agree that top speed should be more that 20 mph? If one of the gauges is off its the Tach. It sits at 5000 rpm for a while then pegs out. Any thoughts.
