    Noises?-gctid404254

So this weekend I noticed that there was a knocking that came and went.

Friday on the way out to our camping cove it sounded like a rod knock, but it wasn't steady, it would come and go. Oil pressure is between 50 and 60, fresh oil and full. It sounds like a rod knock but I have never heard a rod knock come and go like this, usually once they start knocking that is it.

Then it would go away for an hour or so then it would come back. it did change with engine speed.

there is also a rumble when I am hard port or stbd and the engine is running (gimbal or u-joints) this rumble goes away once you straighten the helm up some. And I am getting ready to pull the outdrive to check this and the bellows.

Sounds like gimbal or ujoints to me(if its not the motor). I had a knocking noise when turning the drive on my 3055. Replaced gimbals and ujoints, problem was solved.

The knocking was very audible, I could easily hear it and feel it even on plane.

That is what I am thinking.

When I first heard it I thought "There goes the engine" but then it went away. I have never heard a rod knock go away (well I mean until the rod goes thru the block, then it goes away)

      Last boat was an outboard

One before that was a Bellboy with a 165 Alpha 1 that never made it to the water but was fun to learn on how to rip things apart.

If its the U-Joints knocking around the bell housing you better nip that in the bud!!
