My 2004 Bayliner 205-xt keeps intermittently beeping the alarm on and off. It usually happens when I'm cruising, but sometimes happens even when sitting still with a cold engine. It's not low leg fluid, low oil pressure (which is 60+) or high temperature as the sticker says. I've confirmed each and I replaced the oil-pressure sensor and tried disconnecting the leg-fluid sensor. It's still happening, even when the engine is cold. The bayliner wiring diagram (http://www.baylinerparts.com/Manuals/1786916.pdf page 62) shows the alarm signal wired to each of the gauges (oil, temp, trim, tach, fuel, battery) suggesting any of them could trip the alarm. The sticker suggests it only beeps on high temperature, low leg fluid or low oil pressure. Does anyone know the details of when the gauges trip the alarm, or have any other suggestions? Could it be high oil pressure? I've been told no, but I don't know what else it could be other than perhaps a faulty gauge. Also can anyone tell me what voltages to expect on the various gauge inputs? Any help would be appreciated.

If you're not the original owner, you may have the wrong water temperature alarm sensor on your engine. Mercruiser uses two: a red banded sensor for the 4 cyl engine, and a black banded sensor for the 6 and 8 cylinder engines.
The red banded sensor will trigger around 190 degrees, and the black banded sensor doesn't trigger to around 210 degrees. If you have the 4 cylinder sensor, it will give you a false alarm when installed on a 6 and 8 cylinder engine.
Here is a picture of a red banded sensor on a 3.0L (4 cylinder engine)...so you know what you are looking for:
