    New Distributor

Since I'm going to be tearing down the top end of my motor (water in #7 thread) I got to thinking this is prime time to upgrade the distributor to from points. Looking for suggestions and opinions or sources for getting one. Thanks to all.

Mallory makes a nice unit that can be bought as a kit with coil and wires for a reasonable price.

Just a thought: If your distributor is in good operational condition (no sloppy bushings etc.) you could go the simple route, low cost and just replace the points with an aftermarket triggering system.

IF the bushings are tight, I agree with Builderdude.... get the numbers off of your distributor and check to see what pertronix conversion kit you need for it, and check it against the price of a new, fully loaded distributor....

I'd forgotten about pertronix and I actually went that route n my 2555. I'll check the original out and go from there. Thank you!

I have Pertronix in my 290 hp crate engines, they work great.
