    Replacing Speedo Wire - 2010 Bayliner 195-gctid348433

ok. SO a muskrat decided to chew my Speedo/ODO wire off to use for his home. Wondered last summer why my speedo stopped working. Anyways, wondering if anyone knows if I can just splice this inside the engine compartment. If so, what kind of wire to use? I imagine running it all the way to the dash would be very difficult. Attached a pic of where it was chewed. Also, any suggestion on how to avoid this happening again? Ways to protect the wires back there? Thanks in advance

That wire is to the depth sounder transducer. Do not even think about trying to splice it. There are 3 pairs of wire : 2 each for-- Speed, temperature, and sounder element, plus a shield. Besides, the lower splice would be under water.

by another transducer. and after mounting it, place a length of 1/2" PVC over it. The muskrats won't eat that....

I'm pretty sure it's a speedo wire.. But I didn't mean splice it on the outside there..I meant to take it black spinner thing on bottom with new wire running up through the top chrome peice and into the engine compartment, and then splicing it there.. no good?
