I agree the PSS face seal are about the best you can get... and the leak at the barb fitting can probably be repaired with either a new hose on the barb, or some sealant on the threads of the barb without removing the seals..
if the seals were set up properly when installed, arent wore out or broken, they shouldnt leak...they have a long dependable life, although they can leak out a damaged bellows or a loose clamp, or a faulty hose on the barb fitting..

The PSS units are kinda the standard in the industry.

They have an excellent reputation for longevity, and if replacement is necessary parts are available almost everywhere.

I would stick with them, as there is no real reason not to.

    Face seal versus lip seal

I have to service my PSS shaft seals due to the age of the bellows and a leaking barbed connection at one of the graphite discs. The service facility that I think I want to use favours the Tides lip seal because they believe that the lip seal is better than the face seal. I know that each has their advantages and their drawbacks but does anyone out there have any strong feelings or experience either way?
Working...
