    Transducer Mounting

Hi Group, I have a question on mounting an in hull transducer. Can a transom/trolling motor mounted transducer be converted to an in hull by gluing it in? Thanks, Jim

Before attempting to glue it in, you can put the ducer in a zip lock bag full of water and securely place it in the bilge area to test it out. My transom mount ducer has been in my bilge this way all last season and apears to work just fine however I have lost the provision to read the water temp

HI Dave did you glue it in or is the unit still in a bag? I would like to mount my Simmer transducer - Lowrance touch 2, any comments.

The depth gauge and transducer doesn't have temp. If I need to know the temp I'll just put my hand in and it will tell me that it's too damn cold for an old guy to swim in.Jim

Haven’t stuck it down yet Fritz, it seems to work fine in the bag so I haven’t “fixed” it yet

I had 2 large bronze transducer in a fiberglass well in front od both engines for 10 years, worked great.
Currently until I haul out this spring I have 3 Garmin transom mount transducers in the keel of my 3870, I raised the bilge pump a bit so there was water in the keel, works great.
