    2655 SUB/AMP COMBO MOUNTING ADVICE

Santa brought me a PYLE 8" 600W Marine sub/amp unit. It's a surface mount combo. Mounting choices abound below, but am wondering if any of you have tried mounting one in the cockpit and will it make all that much sound difference underway? The only place I've considered topside would be under the dash inbd of the steering plate. Turbines and belt-fed things have swiped the extreme high and low end tones from my range. I'm "looking" to hear the
"thump" that will ripple the water when the drummer hits the bass , NOT the screw-loosening reverbing "gangsta" mess I hear at the traffic lights.

Keep in mind, bass is non-directional. I think I know what you're after, same as me. I'd go for under the dash (but it might straighten your short-and-curlies.) In my pontoon boat I have two powered subs, one in the driver console right in front of me, but facing port. It "sounds" great!

Thanks Jeff. I figured that if the original fuse blocks under there weren't any worse for wear than they were after 20 some-odd years of the boat appearing NOT to have been cared after properly, it surely won't hurt it too badly, anal as I plan on being what with all the stuff I'm doing with her.
