Just wondering if anyone has installed autopilot on their 3055/305? If so what system and how is it working for you?
Also is this something that a do it yourselfer can do?
I looked into it 3 years ago and decided against it as Due to cost while considering I only have a 3 month season. On my 02 model I needed a "octopus drive" in addition to an autopilot. If memory serves me correct, all in, I think I was looking at 8-10k delivered, plus my labour...
look forward to what others say, and what you find out.

Maybe I'm missing something? I thought this would be all I would need, Reactorâ„¢ 40 Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid Corepack $2050.00. Garmin shadow drive $400.00. Octopus R drive $1100.00.
$3550.00 is what I came up with, but if I'm missing components please let me know.
I have a Raymarine Sportpilot installed in my 3055.
Works great, won't follow a plotted course, if that is what you are looking for?
But it is great for following a set compass course. Mine has 3 options for slow, medium and fast, depending on the speed your traveling and how quickly it correct for heading changes.
Here is a picture, you can see it mounted directly on the steering collum, and the small "arm" controls it.
I haven't installed it myself so can't offer any advice if is DIY.
