  • How to remove ignition switch from 2005 185?-gctid399797

I know it should be simple but I can't see how to remove the ignition switch from my 2005 185 Capri? I can loosen the nut from below but can't see how to get the switch apart to remove it from its hole. Thanks for any tips.

Most of the ignition switches have a nut on both the back and front... the purpose of the back nut is to control its position in the panel.

To remove, remove the nut on the front. Sometimes, there is a weatherproofing nut with a rubber boot ahead of the actual nut which keeps it in the panel and spruces up the appearance, other times it's the same nut for both purposes.

Thanks. It was the rubber boot that confused me. With it removed it was easy to loosen the switch from above and reset the back nut. A little embarassing to have to ask but I feel good when I don't break anything!
