    Bayliner 3270 Diesel Generator removal???-gctid826203

    Hi,

Has anyone removed their diesel generator from a 3270/3288? Thinking about removing it but it looks like a pain in the a$$....

Any ideas how to remove or just pick it in pieces and remove it like that?

Taking as much of the heavy pieces off will help unless your able to slide it over on some boards to lift it out of the engine hatch. Pictures would be helpful for other to comment.

You'll may need to remove some exhaust components on the SB motor to give you room.

I'll post a pic when i get down to the boat... Sliding it to the side requires me to take off exhaust only and to cover the axel so it wont get damaged... But the weight is an issue...

I have a byliner 285 cruiser that s smaller than your boat. When I had to remove the generator the technician acted like a contortionist to squeeze himself into there. Once in there, he had to remove the exhaust, and slide the generator forward at 45 degrees. He then got behind the generator and separated the generator (windings) part from its engine. With a lot of wiggling we got the windings out. They were rewound and went back in the same way. Very difficult. I hope it can be done more easily on yours.
