    Boat Gremlins!!! :(-gctid825695

Thank you to everyone who has given me a advice so far it has helped. So far I have replaced the starter, and solenoid, cleaned the battery connections, and rebuilt the carb! ITS ALIVE!! Lol. (or rather it runs now) The boat is a 1989 sunbridge 2755 with a 5.8 omc stern drive. The GFCI outlets are not working, the main breaker switch is on for the outlets but the do not function, also I've checked all fuses they appear in working order. Also does anyone know if the blower system has more than one vent, or more than one fan, I found the ones in the engine bay just wondering if there is anymore ?? We have smelled fuel fumes in the cabin below this is the reason for the question?

As I remember a buddy's 27, there was only one blower.

Have you replaced the GFCI outlet itself? They do fail over time and will deny power to the circuit if they do.

we just bought the boat about 2 weeks ago and I hadn't done anything to it with the exception of the engine work I mentioned earlier, this is our first boat. So they may have been failing I didn't notice until we moved it north on the water closer to home. I was just curious to see if anyone else had run into a similar issue with theirs

Ok, so if there is only one you wouldn't happen to know how many vents in total for a boat this size ??

The engine room is vented on each side of the boat. One side, probably the starboard, will have the vent vains facing aft, and the blower is probably mounted to the bottom of the vent box. There should be a hose, kinda like dryer vent hose, going from the blower to almost under the engine. The Port side vent should be open to let air in, the vains probably facing forward.

At least that's how mine were on my last gas powered boat,

The outlets only work on shore power, are you plugged in?

If yes you then need to break out the volt meter to see if power is on the output of the breaker so you can determine which direction the fault is.

If you are smelling fumes in the cabin there is an issue that needs to be addressed more than running a blower.

Assuming that you have already hit the reset button on your GFCI and it still does not work.....just replace it. They are fairly inexpensive. If you want to really do it right then purchase an AFCI/GFCI combination unit. The GFCI will protect you and the AFCI will protect your boat if any wires have rubbed bare. About twice the price of a GFCI but well worth it. In my opinion they should be code on all boat, rv's etc. Here is a link http://ecatalog.hubbell-wiring.com/p...al_WLFG005.pdf

Pressure test your fuel tank before you do anything else.
