My Bayliner 2150 restoration is coming along. However, it will start when throttle is 3/4 to full and then stalls when you come back to neutral. Is this a timing issue or a throttle/cable issue? Thanks. I do not see a kill switch. 225 D inboard

I have a different engine, but I had the same problem and it was the IAC unit (Idle Air Control). I could not start the engine unless I was throttled up, and as soon as I reduced throttle it stalled. Easy part to replace and not terribly expensive.

IAC is on fuel injected engines, what is you 225? What year is the boat/engine?

Could be the ignition timing is off or the carburetor idle circuit isn't getting any fuel, time for a carb rebuild maybe.

BTY no IAC as this is a carburetor engine.
