    1990 3888 hino transmission-gctid824531

I have a 1990 3888 with Hino diesel engines 175 horse power. It has been hard to get into reverse and when I am shifting at lower RPM's the transmission rattle. Could this be a timing issue? or an issue with transmissions? does anyone suggest putting and anti slip or additive in the transmissions for smoother shifting?

    Do not add anything!

Hurth transmissions rattle at idle. It's because of the lash built into them and the amount of loping the engine does at idle. There are manufacturers using alternative lubricants. Contact Mike at Harbor Marine in Everett, WA. With the slow engagement, either your cable is slightly out of adjustment and/or your idle is too low. Those things are designed to idle at 750-800. I use a $30 laser tach to set mine. Reflecting dot goes on the fly wheel, point the laser, read the number. Easy peasy.
