My old 180 HP 4.3L calls for "Quicksilver 4 cycle marine oil" in the manual and I see Mercury has new oils out there such as their synthetic blend SAE 25/40. Which oil would be best in this engine?
Thanks,Gerry

Well, I used Mercury 4 stroke 25/40 oil in the 4.3L and it seems happy
The previous owner said he thought 10/30 was in there and OK... I noticed the oil pressure drop to about 42lbs (@4000rpm) as it heated up- now with the 25/40 it hovers around 55 PSI and stays there. Thankfully there are very few hours on this boat :cheer:
