    4087 Windlass Electrical Question-gctid818403

We bought our 1996 4087 last October. Yesterday I tried to use the windlass for the first time and discovered there is no power to the operating switches on the bow. When the main windlass switch in the electrical panel is turned to "on" the blue indicator light does not illuminate. Does anyone know if or where there is a circuit breaker? The only thing I see in the electrical panel is the aforementioned switch and light. Any other troubleshooting suggestions are welcomed! Thanks in advance!

I installed a windlass two years ago and the wiring is not factory. It was recommended by Lewmar ( the windlass manufacturer) to install the main breaker as close to the batteries as possible so it doesn't fry all the wiring to the anchor switch or windlass incase of a high amp draw or short circuit. Did you check near your batteries for a main breaker or switch?

I always trip my windlass when not in use so nobody says hey what does this button do when I am cruising.

Thanks for the direction, floatyerboat. I will be back to the boat tomorrow and look around in the area of the house battery.
