After sea trialing that 1992 2255 and talking with the owners, we bought the little boat. It had a new short block installed a couple years ago and new outdrive. With 4 adults it got on plane nicely and performed as you said - around 35 MPH top, cruise around 28, which is perfect for us. I was actually surprised that it planed fairly quickly with the weight of the people on board. Thanks for the feedback.

I had a 1990 2255 Ciera with the 4.3 V6 and Alpha drive. It always seemed nicely powered even with 4-5 adults aboard. Didn't struggle to get on plane after I upgraded to an "elephant ear" three blade prop.

Top speed was around 35 MPH.

    We really enjoyed that boat!

Yes, sorry I meant 4.3. Thanks!

The 4.3 was the base engine for the 2255. It actually was an upgrade of sorts, because the 2255 was just a legacy 2155 Ciera with a molded in swim platform, and those only got 3.0L 4 cylinders or V8s.

SO with the 4.3, you could expect upper 30s/40 mph or so. Not a speed demon, but it was good power for a boat that performed OK with a 4 cylinder.

    4.3 you mean...

About to 40 MPH I'm guessing.
