    What coil for 1988 454 Crusader-gctid817817

Does anyone have a part number for a 1988-1989 crusader 454 with prestolite points ignition? The coil I have has no numbers on it, just says "no external resistor required".

No external resister required means there is an internal resister in the coil.

I converted to Pertronix no points conversion and use a Pertronix 40,000 volt coil.

The conversion is a simple install, then check the timing.

    No more points.

Search Pertronix ignition for the conversion.

If you have a ballast resister bolted to the top of the engine then you need a coil for the ohms.resistens.that is stated on the ballast resister. If you have no ballast resister then get a coil that needs no resister. If you don't know what a resister looks like it's a white/ cream color ceramic thingy rectangle about 3 inches long.
