I have had the boat a couple years now had a shifting issue and adj. the linkage which cured the shifting problem.but now can't get the eng. over 3500 checked the usual suspects fuel filt,cap ,rotor,carb fully open .Eng runs out great no miss smooth just won't rev past 3500 rpm has me stumped. Also does this year have a eng protection rpm limiter? Thanks in advance.

I originally had the same boat and motor issues. I would guess you have a throttle cable adjustment or cable replacement problem. Try to disconnect the cable from the carb. and see if you can manually advance the engine to max rpm. Of course someone will need to operate the boat while you perform this test. I am sure others will have better ideas, but I would try this or have a marine shop look at it. Remember what boat ( bring out another thousand ) means. By the way I got tired of " boat " and replaced the 460 with a complete new Volvo Penta motor and outdrive. Garchar
