    Used boat purchase-gctid816533

Looking at potential purchase of 2007 325 sb...pause for concern is that it is equipped with twin 5.7 carbs engines...should I eliminate carb engines in my search...love the size of the boat from what I have but almost feel I'm going backwards in technology engine wise...thoughts?

It is a little primitive but they still perform well. That boat is basically an updated 3055 and lots of us have/had the same engine set up. I never felt I didn't have enough power even with full fuel a lots of passengers.

Carb powered boats have less "electrical issues" to deal with. TPS. Knock sensor. This sensor, that sensor. Carb rebuild (if necessary) is less expensive than replacing injectors.

There is no reason to discount carbureted engines. They work well, however, just like an injected system, can gum up if they sit for a couple of years. Of the engine parts I've had problems with over the years, carburetors are well down the list.

You may consider replacing the normal flame arrestors that do not filter the air coming in, to a K&N air filter. It's not going to improve fuel economy, but will filter the air and keep the carb cleaner. Disclaimer: just a suggestion as something I did and the product I used. There are other products out there that you could use.

It is nice to not have to pump the throttle like a 1980's vehicle. And they start much faster with fuel injection.

For me, it would depend on the condition of the bilge. If it looks immaculate, go for it.
