I got my boat back from service by the dealer and ran the boat for 5 hrs. last Saturday, then again yesterday for 1.5 hours. While running yesterday the boat spurted, then shut down completely. I tried to restart, but upon turning the key nothing happens. No alarm, no click, and no turn over. I think the gauges went out but the radio, trim, and accessories continue to work. I first checked the kill switch. Then put in in and out of gear to make sure that I was in neutral. All checked out. We did have to reset the 50 amp breaker and found a blow 20 amp fuse on the top of the engine. We changed it but nothing helped. Later using a meter, determined that we have power on each side of the in-line fuse on the power line coming off of the battery. We determined that we do have power on both sides of the 50 amp breaker but no power at the ignition switch. I did try to jump the connections at the ignition but nothing. When I re-engage the yellow breaker at the 50 amp on top of the engine, I hear a noise. I think it is the fuel pump running even though the key is off.

The dealer is closed due to the holiday, so I thought I would give the forum a try as I have seen a lot of problems solved here. Any ideas on what my problem might be?

    BTW I have a 2011 185BR with the 4.3L mercruiser.

Main barrel harness seems fine if your accessories are still working.

If the gauges are not powering up, ignition circuit is dead .

Did you check for 12VDC power at the ignition switch?

Blown ignition circuit fuse most likely.

there is a fuse/breaker under the binnacle (boat speak for dashboard) in the line to the ignition key switch.

Of you are blowing fuses/breakers, find out why.....

Service Tech found a bad diode and after changing it and a fuse behind the distributor, the boat is now running. Was not able to put it in the water this weekend due to rainy weather, however, looking forward to getting it wet this upcoming weekend.
