    Can anyone tell me if the lower unit in the link will fit on to my 290 A DP?

    I don't know the ratio yet, wanted to see if it was feasible or not

    You have an AQ series drive, of which is main suspension fork and pivot tube geometry. This is the good stuff!

    The DP-S drive is a Gimbal Suspension drive. Nothing will interchange with your AQ series.

    Sad to say......... the seller does not have a clue as to how he listed his item.

        Just noticed it's a 1.95/1 ratio, not 1.78/1

        Is that also a no no

          1.95:1 is a small block V8 gear ratio

          1.78:1 is a bigblock/ diesel application for the most part with a few exceptions. Namely a 383 sbc stroker engine.

          The one you listed will not fit either if you have a 290a,d,c,d

          This one maybe but it's a E so best to ask Rick.

            Thanks Amadaies, the link you posted was the one I thought I put up in post no 4

            I think I know the answer, but I'll wait for an expert to direct me

            On my existing lower I have damaged the bearing carrier (long story regarding the prop spacer washer being put in the wrong place)

            IF I can get hold of another bearing carrier, is it a case of removing the old one and replacing with new oil seals ?

            I think Rick told me a few weeks back that there would be some machining and shimming involved

                I have sourced a "good used" bearing carrier from a well known supplier over here for £120, another £30 odd for a seal kit and hope the bearings are ok when/if I get the old carrier off over the weekend

                  Should I get some various sized shims to be prepared

                  If so, can someone give me some part numbers etc

                    I would suggest finding the thread where I explained how to install a new Duo Prop propeller shaft bearing carrier!
