As the subject line says, I'm getting some gear oil "burping" out of the cap of the gear lube monitor. I noticed this after changing the gear oil. When I refilled the gear lube, it was done from the drain with the drive level. Gear oil was added such that that oil was just starting to enter the bottle. I topped off the oil to the full line. My question is do you think that this is purging any remaining air in the drive, the lid needs to be replaced or something else? The level in the monitor is not increasing, so water intrusion does not appear to be the culprit. Anyway, I'm currently thinking it's just purge and mostly normal with nothing to be seriously concerned about. Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds like air purging from the drive, it's common after a gear lube change. Keep a close eye on the level during the next several runs, check it often.

Thanks dude! I figured as much, but thought it wise to ask since I'm a newer boat owner. After the gear oil change, the level in the tank went down a "little" from the full line, so I did figure it was just some pockets of air being released.
