I have a 1986 Capri 2150 with 280 outdrive and AQ 225 engine. The inboard is surrounded by sold wood walls to support the dogbox -so hard to get to engine to work on. Here is my problem-not pumping water to engine. I changed the impeller, that helped and is now pumping water to some degree. On waterears no water coming out of exhaust. I discovered that the black hose from the out drive up to the engine was blocked. Took of clamp and sled hose off of a nipple on the out drive and back flushed and a lot dirt/l lake debris came out of the foot. When tried to hook the hose back up I notice that the nipple on the out drive was corroded and part disintegrated So I cannot get the hose to stay on. So what do you call that nipple and where can I get one-looks like it comes off with a, allen wrench. Next I hooked a garden hose directly to the outdrive hose that runs to the raw water pump. It suck water like a camp and manifolds did not get hot. New problem- water was running out at bottom of block, that was luke warm. Looking at my parts box I got with the boat I notice at least 4 freeze plugs- probably came from my engine. How many freeze plugs are there and how do you get them back in. Remember, the wood wall for the dog box- no room. Do you have to lift the engine just to replace freeze plugs or hire a midget. Thanks-need help here

I'm no VP expert but be careful forcing water from the garden hose into the cooling system it's possible to end up with water reversion down the exhaustinch: the corroded transom fitting and gaskets/seeks need to be replaced. Engine most likely needs to come out for casting plug repair. Can you get a small mirror down there to verify the source of the leak?
