Advice needed on replacing aging Prestolite 7013A distributors on 86 3270-gctid814998

I have a 1986 3270 with the original Prestolite distributors VP BB225 motors (305's). The distributors were upgraded years ago (by a previous owner) with aftermarket ignition modules to eliminate the points. Fast forward to today. The advance mechanism and springs are really old (original) and causing problems with the port engine. I think its time to replace both distributors. Can you suggest a replacement with more modern distributors? Mallory? Sierra? I'm hoping for an easy drop in with minimum modifications.

    Thanks in advance...

Mallory YLM 624 AV on both engines (not YLUs).

These use mechanical advancing mechanisms, and the tried and proven VR triggering.

      How about these?

I was going to get those for mine, because, well they are pretty.

But, I sold the boat so now I don't get to try them.

        Hi Rick,

It's been a long time. I'm glad you are still active on these forums. I have the notes from our phone conversation eons ago. You mentioned the YLM's then. I can't find those anymore. At least, not easily. I was looking at this:

        https://www.msdperformance.com/produ...rs/parts/83606

        Or the Sierra 18-5494-2:

        https://www.fisheriessupply.com/sier...nits-18-5494-1

Do you like any of these? I'm hoping for an easy drop in. What about an newer ignition coil? One without an external condenser?

        Thanks again!!

I have the Mallory YLU624 on mine. They were there when I bought the boat 6 years ago. So far so good...
