    Engine Serial Number-gctid813076

    Hi All

I have a 2002 Bayliner 185 Bowrider, the engine serial number should be stamped on the flame arrestor but its not, is there any way to find out from Bayliner if I was to give them the Hull identification number ? It is the original factory fitted engine so I would imagine they have a record of what was fitted to that hull ?

    Thanks in advance

Not sure about the meat of your question, but to the best of my knowledge all engine blocks have a stamp. It probably is extremely hard to see as it would be below the heads. I assume it is impossible to use a mirror and see if you can find it? Sorry to not be more help.

As far as would Bayliner have the data? I certainly don't know. That's a 15 year old record. Almost before computers...

The serial number tag is located near the starter, by the flywheel housing.

If the engine serial number tag is NOT there, is there not a way to determine from Bayliner what engine was originally provided in the boat by its hull number identification? The engine compartment on my 1996 2050SS does not allow finding any I'd numbers on the back of the engine. I do know that there is no tag on the back above the starter motor!

ronitom, as a friendly FYI....... and while there are no rules against this, you've posted to a 4 year old thread from back in June of 2017.
For any thread that hasn't had any activity for a while, the OP has most likely received an answer and has moved on.

That said....... if you have a question that may be related to an old thread topic, it's best to start your own new fresh thread.
