why does water drip from shift cable onto engine when I'm running engine in driveway? 1995 2452 ,5.7 merc

Check the shift cable bellow .

how does water get onto shift bellow in driveway

Water is spitting all around from the relief ports ( 2 small holes on ether side of the transom mounts ).

Raise the drive see if the shift bellows is cracked or has a hole in it.

found the leak,i had put some adhesive caulk on the O ring for water to cool engine from rear drive to hold it in place while I installed the rear drive.i found out that is a big no no.so I replaced O ring and no more leak! Always learning
